We need more rental properties in the area not just built to be sold.

Having lived in Example District for years, I cannot emphasise enough the necessity of this Local Plan. The projected increase in population inevitably raises the stakes for housing availability, and it is heartening to see the commitment to deliver more than just a quota of homes. The added buffer of 21% provides a safety net, reassuring us that the Council’s approach is both cautious and ambitious. Furthermore, the consideration of various types of housing—including affordable options—opens doors for different demographics to settle here comfortably. I firmly believe that such planning is crucial for our district's longevity and its vibrant future.

Having observed various housing developments over the years, a pattern of inadequate planning emerges concerning public services. It is critical to ensure that the Local Plan includes robust measures for upgrading transport, schools, and healthcare alongside housing expansion. Simply providing an assortment of new homes without correlating civic facility upgrades risks exacerbating issues such as traffic congestion and strain on schools in our area. I call for a detailed assessment and commitment to expanding vital services as part of any housing growth to ensure our community's infrastructure keeps pace with proposed developments.

The rapid increase in housing targets raised in the Local Plan can be perceived as a threat to our heritage. Example District has a rich cultural history, and unchecked development could lead to the erosion of our local character, disrupting the very essence of what makes our community unique.
