Instead of prioritising local needs and sustainable community interests, the plan feels tainted by economic motivations. I strongly believe community members ought to have priority in determining development focus, ensuring we maintain the unique character and welfare of our neighbourhoods. This proposal needs to reevaluate how it aligns with community wellbeing over corporate profit.

I find it troubling that the proposal for the Call for Gypsy & Traveller Sites appears to be somewhat rushed and lacks clarity in its intentions. The initial Call for Sites did not get much attention, which raises concerns about whether adequate consideration was given to the underlying issues. It feels as though a genuine dialogue was not established, particularly with the local residents who will be directly impacted by these allocations. Moreover, prioritising only specific communities without a clear strategy for integration and inclusivity seems counterproductive. It’s vital for the planning process to consider the perspectives of all impacted stakeholders. It begs the question of whether the necessary environmental assessments have been thoroughly conducted before allocating these sites. Therefore, I firmly believe that the Council should reconsider its approach and conduct a more inclusive and transparent engagement process. This will ensure that we do not inadvertently create divisions within our community.

I find myself absolutely bewildered by the audacity of this housing proposal. There seems to be a blatant disregard for the historical context of our neighbourhood, which is pivotal to our town’s identity. The emphasis on affordability is laudable, but it does not justify the potential erasure of our unique architectural aesthetic. I have reservations about concentrating so heavily on green infrastructure without adequately highlighting the need to protect our existing ecosystems. It's commendable to pursue carbon storage and improvements in environmental quality, yet the proposal fails to recognise the delicate balance necessary to maintain existing natural habitats. Overzealous development could inadvertently disrupt existing ecosystems, and I worry that a lack of focus on conservation could lead to irreversible damage. The policies should reflect not only the ambition of building new green spaces but also the imperative of protecting what we already have.
