The extension of the Local Plan period to 2041 is a prudent decision for our area. Having worked in urban planning for over a decade, I find that a longer-term vision is crucial for sustainable development and community planning. The additional five years will allow planners to accurately assess changing demographics, economic conditions, and environmental factors that may arise in the coming years. This foresight can lead to more informed decisions regarding infrastructure, transport, and housing needs which is indispensable for a growing population. We need to think beyond the immediate future and this extension allows for that kind of planning.
