I wish to convey my discontent with the proposal for the new Call for Gypsy & Traveller Sites. It is disconcerting that the previous Call for Sites did not garner the necessary responses, as this indicates a lack of genuine outreach within our communities. The proposal seems to isolate the Gypsy & Traveller community without thoroughly addressing the potential implications for other residents. The environmental constraints should be more prominently at the forefront of these discussions rather than relegated to an annex. It’s crucial that any site allocation considers how it affects the surrounding areas and infrastructure. Furthermore, the decision to focus solely on the Gypsy & Traveller community does not seem to address the needs of wider society and may inadvertently create division rather than cohesion. I urge the Council to reconsider its approach and engage in a more holistic planning process which evaluates the impacts on all community members.
