Upon reviewing the proposed policies and consulting previous climate studies, I find them to be inadequate for the complexities of climate change. The proposed changes to energy efficiency, due to the new written statement, may well cause a regression in our development towards achieving net-zero emissions. This not only affects the district but could have lasting repercussions on our community's resilience against climate threats. We ought to focus on more robust strategies to promote energy use reduction and keep apace with climate adaptation immediately. Plans should consider the long-term viability of buildings as well as their immediate impacts on the environment rather than merely ticking boxes without real substance.
