I am concerned that the proposed Local Plan overlooks the need for immediate, effective measures related to climate change adaptation. The emphasis on policies and studies is commendable, but there is a lack of urgency in how these considerations ought to be integrated into the everyday workings of planning. The ramifications of extreme weather seem to be noted, yet by delaying definitive steps to mitigate these effects, the Council risks compromising community safety and sustainability. Each new development should integrate climate adaptive measures from the onset rather than as an afterthought. The time for band-aid solutions has passed; a radical shift in thinking is necessary to address these pressing issues head-on.
