While the current framework embodies a strategic intent, the execution seems to favour convenience over community-centric development. Sustainable development should embody a holistic vision, where community needs—including housing, transport, and local businesses—are equally weighted. The focus on previously developed sites appears almost transactional and could risk isolating areas that are in dire need of investment. We need a visionary approach that fosters collaboration between stakeholders, rather than a rigid adherence to the previously established boundaries of land use. A collaborative plan can energise our District’s potential and address the social fabric more effectively.
