I have significant reservations about the Local Plan's approach to employment space. The growing trend of remote work, which has been accelerated by recent global events, suggests that the demand for traditional workspace could decrease considerably. Investing heavily in employment uses based on outdated models could lead to a myriad of vacant units in the future, which would have detrimental effects on our community and economy. It simply does not make sense to plan so far ahead without acknowledging how work dynamics are rapidly changing. We should adapt to a future where flexible and remote work could be predominant.
