In reviewing the Sustainability Appraisal, I see a substantial gap in how it plans to address future challenges, particularly in the face of climate change. While it commits to sustainability, the realities of unpredictability in weather patterns and natural disasters necessitate a more dynamic and flexible approach. Currently, it appears disproportionately focused on present conditions rather than planning for contingencies. An effective Local Plan must integrate adaptive strategies that reflect potential climate scenarios and community preparedness. Therefore, I recommend amending the Sustainability Appraisal to include clearer provisions for resilience and adaptability in response to climate uncertainties.
