I have significant reservations about the philosophical underpinnings of the stated objectives within the Local Plan. While the idea of achieving sustainable development is commendable, the objectives set forth seem vague and indefinable. They create an impression of a box-ticking exercise rather than a sincere effort to ensure sustainability. Additionally, it is disheartening to note that environmental concerns, particularly regarding climate change, appear to be treated as afterthoughts rather than integrated components of the policy framework. For instance, the overarching aim lacks actionable strategies, and I worry this could lead to lacklustre implementation and serious environmental consequences that would affect future generations. It is imperative that there be a stronger focus on actionable objectives that demonstrate real commitment to sustainability.
