Chapter 2 – Expanding Text Areas
Expanding text areas can be used to improve the user experience. Planning documents include lots of information which can deter casual users. By initially hiding some of the text in expandable text areas we can make pages much shorter and easier to digest while allowing the most important sections of the document to show. This technique is most effective when standard templates have been used in the creation of the document so that most pages have the same heading structure.
Here is an example of this in action:
Introduction to OC2
The OpusConsult 2 service allows documents to be published on the web, enabling the general public and other interested parties to view them online and make representations specific to chapters, sections, policies, statements or the entire document.
More text can then be added beneath the show/hide sections if required.
